A slot is a container that allows administrators and contact center managers to access and use a predefined set of common responses. This enhancement improves efficiency and reduces the time and effort needed to build bot flows.
Charles Fey’s slot machine, introduced in 1887, was a major improvement over previous gambling machines. Fey’s invention had multiple reels and a number of paylines that could be activated. He also replaced the poker symbols with more traditional icons, including diamonds, spades, horseshoes, and Liberty Bells. These symbols were aligned to create winning combinations. Three aligned Liberty Bells triggered the biggest payout, earning the machine its name.
Although it may feel like the machine you left just paid off, there’s no way to know if it was “due.” Each slot is controlled by an algorithm that randomly assigns probabilities to each symbol. Those odds are then displayed to the player by a combination of reels and stops, so a particular symbol might seem more likely to appear than others. However, the random-number generator runs continuously, generating dozens of combinations every second, so even if a machine you’re playing has been sitting there for a while, it’s still equally as likely to hit on its next spin as it was on yours. That’s why it’s important to make a plan before you play: decide how much you want to spend and stick to it.
